Important information regarding guidelines for student and parent participation in the program was communicated. Please be sure to read the handbook Band Code of Ethics in detail specifically in the following areas:
o Parent Involvement
Please be respectful of the teaching environment that exists whenever your student is participating as a band. They are working and need to focus on the instruction given from the directors and staff. Do not interrupt or call attention to yourself during these times, but wait until your student is dismissed. We sincerely attempt to finish each session “on time”, however, your student has personal responsibilities related to housekeeping and clean-up. This can take from 5-15 minutes after the session is completed. Encourage your student’s participation in these activities by not arriving for pick-up and/or entering the rehearsal areas early.
Volunteering- We cannot move the machine that is the marching band without your help. We suggest that each family commit to four separate volunteer opportunities, whether that is all with one committee or by serving on multiple committees. The parents have fun together and it can be a joy to watch the students work and interact as they perform. Please contact Juli Bird if you have not signed up to serve on a committee.
The school district currently collects a participation fee and trip fee (as needed) associated with each band program. . Please contact Ericka Vance or Juli Bird to answer any questions and/or concerns that you have. The district will collect these fees at the time of schedule pickups. Key points presented:
o Boosters may not directly pay for program activities. This is a change from last year.
o Boosters may not collect fees to pay for program activities
o Good News- this means that contributions (donations) made to the booster organization are tax deductible as we are a 501(3)(c). The Booster board will be contacting parents individually to communicate their current donations and guide next steps. Look for those communications.
If you are able, please make a tax credit donation to the district, specifying the Chandler High Band and your student’s name. Recruit family, friends and coworkers to do the same. The more funding we can obtain through these means (as quickly as possible) the less likely these changes will have a negative impact on our program for the 2015 Fall Season. If you are able, please make a donation to the CHS Band Boosters. All donations to the CHS Band Boosters are tax deductible. Donations are made to CHS Band Boosters and can be left in an envelope in the band office. To receive a receipt identifying the donation as tax deductible, ensure you include a your name and address you’d like the receipt returned to. If only your name is provided , a receipt will be emailed to your contact information received in your band paperwork. If you do not provide contact information, the donation will remain anonymous.
