Update November 29, 2020:

 

Woo-Hoo! On to the semi-finals for playoff football! The next home football game to be played on Austin Field is on SATURDAY, December 5th vs. Liberty. Game time is 7:00pm. Call time for the band is 5:00pm. 

Please remind your kids to look at the forecast for game-time and dress accordingly.  Bring layers (jackets/beanies) to add as the nights grow colder!

CONCESSIONS HELP!

We are selling concessions at all home Freshman, JV, and Varsity football games. We need volunteers to help with sales. It is an easy job this year – only prepackaged snack foods and beverages. No cooking / preparing of any food. Please see the link to the sign up genius and take a shift or two. If every band parent would help out just a little, this will make light work for all!

WATER DONATIONS

Parents, please consider donating a case or two of water bottles this season. With precautions for Covid-19, we are not using the large water jugs this year. We are looking to have approximately 100 water bottles available at each game to keep our kids hydrated. Thank you for your assistance!

We want to share our knowledge with the next generation of band parents to ensure a smooth transition at the end of the year!

 

Fundraising Update – Our Mask-Sale fundraiser was a HUGE success! We sold just under 600 masks and brought in over $2,700!

***Due to restrictions on gathering during the pandemic, parent meetings have been postponed. Once school resumes, we will be due to meet and elect a board to serve for the 2020-21 school year.

FOR 2019-20 MARCHING BAND SEASON:

Welcome to the CHS band program!  Here is some information to get you started.  All  9th graders need to sign up for the courses listed below:

 

All 9th grade Wind Players sign up for JV or Concert Band.

 

All 9th grade or Beginner Percussion sign up for the Percussion Class.

 

There are no auditions into the concert band.

 

We do have larger instruments for rental at CHS. Cost is $40.00 for the year.

 

Jazz Band:

Jazz band is a varsity group.  An audition is required.  Willis and Anderson students will be auditioned in April/May during their classes. If you do not attend those schools, another audition will be held the first week of classes.

 

Marching Band/Color Guard

Marching Band meets as a zero –  hour before school everyday at 6:00am. Additionally, there are evening practices on Mondays and afternoons on Fridays. We play varsity football games on Friday evenings, and  Saturday competitions begin in 2nd quarter.

 

Band camp  is required – There are two camp sessions: 2 weeks of summer break in July and the first full week of October break.

Details will be coming out during our spring meeting in March. Info will be sent out to Willis and Anderson and will eventually be posted on this website.

 

Drum line and Guard do have 4th quarter workshops and summer practices. Drum line members do require an audition.  Please have your student attend the workshops so they are prepared for placement auditions.

 For those of you that use your Fry’s card, you have to register your card for the band rewards program every year. Go online to the Fry’s website. Look for the community rewards program, search for Chandler High School Band or use our account number BT596.

After linking your card, use your card for normal purchases. The band  boosters receive payout every quarter based on a percentage of what is spent.  Please let  your family and friends know about this as well so we may take advantage of this fundraising program!
